when you have carved canyons
and worn cliffs as a crown?
do not try to fit yourself into
someone’s cupped hands.
they can become the sky,
the mountains,
whole continents
(as they were born to be).
or they can watch
as you carry your treasures away
and leave no piece of yourself behind.
